วัดพุทธาราม ลอนดอน จัดงานสงกรานต์ และทอดกฐินผ้าป่าสามัคคี เพื่อไถ่ถอนที่ดินและอาคารวัดใหม่ เมื่อวันอาทิตย์ที่ 5 เมษายนที่ผ่านมา ณ Blake Hall Sport Club ซึ่งสถานที่จัดงานนั้นอยู่ใกล้กับวัด

This however was not always the main activity of this festival. Songkran was traditionally a time to visit and pay respects to the elders, including family and friends and neighbours. Besides the throwing of water people may also go to a Buddhist monastery to pray and give food to the monks. They may also cleanse Buddha images from household shrines as well as Buddha images from monasteries by gently pouring water over them. It is believed this will bring good luck and prosperity to them for the new year.
Nowadays, the emphasis is on fun and water throwing rather than on the festival's spiritual and religious aspects.
At the Buddhadipa Thai Temple in Wimbledon people living in the UK can sample Thai culture and the spirit of Songkran without water been thrown at them as this tradition has stayed in Thailand .In Wimbledon people can bathe Buddha images pray ,enjoy watching traditional Thai singing and dancing and enjoy eating Thai food.
